The present paper is based on a national research project, titled, “Promotion of Women’s Participation in Managerial Levels in Iran” which studies the low profile presence of women in Iran’s managerial levels. The statistical sample of this research encompasses all employees of 11 grade and higher with more than 10 years of experience under the State Employment Organization. The dependent variable in this research is promotion of women’s participation in the managerial levels and the independent variables include individual, organizational and cultural factors.
On the basis of the findings of this research, some suggestions have been made about the individual factors such as personal desire, individual skills, individual responsibilities, and family responsibilities, as well as organizational factors such as human resources policies, creation of educational, research structures for women, emphasis on meritocracy, etc. With regard to the law and rules and regulations, methods and procedures, some suggestions have been made about changing the qualifications for a manager, and in the field of culture attentions have bee drawn towards the necessity of changing the value systems and beliefs.
