Our next article Dr . Abbas Mohammadzadeh deals with the “Contingency Models for Organizational Development”. It explains why some organizations undergo major overhauls due to their failure in achieving organizational goals. The article offers guidelines fur achieving desirable performance under changing environmental conditions. Four principal models are discussed. They are the mechanistic model, the organic model, the traditional-handcraft model, and the mechanistic-organic model. These models are examined by such criteria as performance, structure, resources, environmental conditions. culture, and the weak point process. While there is not a single model that can be used as the most appropriate One under every conditions, a mix of these models have been useful in modifying organizational structure to yield improved productivity and desirable performance.
