The successful stories of quality management in industry have given rise to questions concerning the applicability of its concepts and techniques to the education sector. The increasing key role that human resources play in a world competitive environment on the one hand, and concerns about the decline of Students’ capabilities and educational standards on the other, ire factors strengthening the need for new ways of managing quality of education.
This paper has a review on the principles of
‘Total Quality Management” as the prevailing philosophy in industrial quality management - and investigates their application to the educational settings. Some practical examples of using TQM methodologies to improve quality are included.
