Abstract

As an analyst, one needs to understand the organization before one attempts to determine the requirements for an individual Information system.
There are two techniques for understanding the organizational environment of systems:
critical success factors (CSFs) and context diagrams, which have been thoroughly analysed in this article.
In this article, the author discusses organizational objectives & goals; strategics and policies; and structure in the context of the CSFs; that is, CSF method is described as a technique for identifying organizational information requirements.
The second technique is a structural graphical tool for Identifying the organization’s functional areas and processes that are performed within and between these areas and between the organization and the outside world. A context diagram can be used to determine the boundaries and general objectives of a system.
The writer after thorough description of CSF and Context Diagram methods, as an
objective type, a relevant case study has been proposed.
